MOONTON Games announced yesterday the second season for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL).

Moonton is organising the tournament, officially known as PML KH S2 Spring Split, in partnership with Smart Axiata, a leading telecommunications company in Cambodia.

Established in 2014, MOONTON Games is a global company dedicated to gaming development, publication, and esports. MOONTON Games has more than 1,000 employees worldwide, and it operates offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and China. The company has successfully launched several high-profile mobile games in more than 30 countries.

Up to 256 qualified teams will be chosen to compete and showcase their outstanding skills in MPL KH S2, according to MOONTON Games.

“This serves the gaming and esports community in Cambodia and helps outstanding players achieve their dreams and potential of becoming pro esports players,” the gaming company said.

The new tournament will take on a different format, with a much longer regular season and playoffs timeframe. MPL KH S2 will run from January 2 to April 24.

The registration for the tournament will run from January 2 to 11, followed by the qualifier rounds from January 13 to 21. The top eight teams will be selected from the qualifying rounds.

The regular rounds will be held from February 26 to March 28, involving four teams from the qualifying rounds and another four invited teams. The playoff rounds will be held from April 9 to 24.

The inaugural MPL KH S1 was held from July to October 2021.

“Partnering with Smart as our league partner in Cambodia was an obvious choice, as they have dedicated a lot of time, effort and resources to growing esports in Cambodia. We are very excited to be working with them to bring this international-standard gaming experience and competition to Cambodia,” Trinity Wu of MOONTON Games said prior to the start of MPL KH S1.

“See You Soon” topped the inaugural edition of the MPL KH. The team represented Cambodia in the M3 World Championship in Singapore last month.

MPL KH S1 was broadcasted on various national sports TV channels, including CSTV, BTV, TV3 and SEATV, exceeding a reach of 10.7 million and total watch hours of 1.36 million.
